North Carolina Fails to Help Students with Dyslexia | Dr. Coral Hoh

Written by: Dr. Hoh

Disability Rights NC has shared the suggestion to remove North Carolina’s funding cap on special education for school districts, considering there are over 203,000 children in North Carolina identified as children with disabilities. Currently, districts are limited to receiving funds for 12.75% of their total student population, irrespective of the actual number of students with special needs. An analysis reveals that more than half of North Carolina’s school districts have over 12.75% of students requiring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), leading to a mismatch between allocated funds and the necessary funding.

According to the National Center for Learning Disabilities, dyslexia, the most common learning disability, increases the risk of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and peer rejection without the added isolation of remote learning. Dr. Coral Hoh, clinical linguist and cofounder of Dysolve, created the first AI expert system for dyslexia and learning disabilities. She has an affordable solution for students battling dyslexia that would cost U.S. taxpayers 10% of what they currently pay.(Dysolve costs $1,000 per student, compared to School Special Services at $10,000.)

Dr. Coral Hoh has over 30 years of fieldwork on language disorders of exceptional populations. She served on the editorial board of the National Association for Gifted Children and co-authored “Dyslexia Dissolved: Successful Cases with Learning Disabilities, ADHD and Language Disorders.” She is the architect of the Dysolve AI system, and she holds U.S. and international patents for AI technologies for language disorders.

We offer you an interview with Dr. Coral Hoh to explain how Dysolve provides cost-effective solutions that not only address the educational needs of students with dyslexia but also contribute to economically viable programs for taxpayers. Among other topics she’ll discuss:

  • Educational Crisis in NYC: Dr. Coral Hoh will discuss the landscape of dyslexia in NYC public schools, providing context for the urgency of addressing the needs of older students.
  • Sustainable Programs: Dr. Hoh has successfully developed strategies for dyslexia programs that are not only effective but also cost-efficient, making them sustainable for taxpayers.
  • Fast, Proven Results: Dysolve students graduate from the program in two years on average — a significant improvement from the current standard wherein special education students rely on services from grades 3-12.
